Welcome

Welcome to Empire Plaza at 33 University Avenue, Toronto.

Empire Plaza was the first condominium residence built on University Avenue and is considered to be one of the finest residential addresses in Toronto's downtown core.

Empire Plaza has had an amazing pedigree of famous and important residents over the years both because of its location and design, which are second to none.

The building's sweeping circular structure and bowed facade of red granite and dark blue glass has created a proud landmark on the grand boulevard that is University Avenue.

The Empire Plaza condominium is the epitome of refined living - with 24 hour security, an on-site management team and a committed Board of Directors that have served to promote and enhance this distinguished condominium residence.

Building Features

It is not only the address that sets Empire Plaza apart, but also the building itself – designed by the award-winning Architects Young & Wright.

Upon approaching the entrance visitors are immediately struck by the beautifully landscaped exterior, the grand entrance and the elegant marble lobby with domed ceiling.

The award winning architecture and the interior design of the Grand Lobby are unparalleled in refinement and grace. Designed and furnished by Robert Dirstein, a top Toronto designer, the Grand Lobby was inspired by the Empire style: originally the elaborate Neoclassical style of Napoleon’s French First Empire (1804-1815). The large black planters in the Grand Lobby are reminiscent of the amphoras of Pompeii. The stunning and impressive Greco-Roman chandelier is a breathtaking example of interior design. The marble and granite floor tiles in random sizes are also a unique creation to behold. Beyond the Grand Lobby there is yet another private lobby with its own unique chandeliers and more statement pieces of the neoclassical period to enjoy as you wait for the elevators to take you to the private suites and amenities.

The 28-floor building is served by 3 elevators plus a separate elevator to the six levels of underground parking. Acoustic consultants Barman Swallow participated in the design of the building to ensure that residents are well insulated from both exterior and interior noise.

For peace-of-mind, the video surveillance system covers all common areas. Resident access to the building, garage and lobby elevator is with an electronic key fob, and visitors’ access to the building is only via the main security desk.
